Groundbreaking ceremony for the Holleschbierg lift in Hesperange (LUX)

The foundations of our lift project in the municipality of Hesperange have been laid. On the 21st of September, the municipality celebrated the occasion with a groundbreaking ceremony and expressed its heartfelt thanks to all planners and enterprises involved in the construction of the lift. The project is one of a total of three projects aimed at redesigning the centre of Hesperange.

Construction in the municipality began in spring 2023. Since then, works were concentrated on the upper section of the square and the pedestrian connection at the arrival plateau of the lift. In order to make the groundworks as low-impact as possible, the entire structure was accurately marked out in advance by surveyors and the interventions were determined in collaboration with the ANF (Administration de la Nature et des Forêts). In order to ensure a universally-accessible connection from the end of the 38-metre-long bridge to the level of the sports area of the plateau, the terrain was modelled according to accessibility reglamentary specifications. To create a solid foundation for the bridge structure and the new paved path, the areas up to the rock-face were exposed and supporting reinforced concrete walls were erected.

In the following construction phase, the lift tower will be built on the lower site using climbing formwork. This will then be covered with a filigree perforated metal façade. We are looking forward to the next steps.
